If you have these how big are your polyps? Granted when I got the frags the polyps were small but they have not grown much. They are multiplying pretty quickly though. I bout 1 small polyp of Nuc green about 4 months ago and now I have about 9. The largest polyp (the original polyp) is a little larger than a pencil eraser and the babies are smaller. Same with the PD's. I have 2 new polyps after about 1.5 months but the polyps are small. For some reason I thought that these polyps were as large as PE polyps.

The polyps on my purple deaths are bigger than my nuclear greens. The average size of mine is about the size of a dime. I do have a few polyps that are about the size of a nickel.

Can you tell me where yours are placed? Are they in your 58 under 250's? Thanks.

My NGs have stayed relatively small as well untill they grew into a small colony sized (~6, 7 polyps). PDs on the other hand, were small when it first came in...but sized up nicely to a dime size. They are both on the bottom of my 70w.

Thanks Vince. Yea my PD's are actually "younger" than my Nuc Greens and the largest polyps on each are about the same size. Something else interesting (to me anyway) is that my Nuc Greens are popping out babies but are not connected by tissue to each other. I can see no visible tissue connecting the polyps.

Thanks JGoslee. I have a 58 Oceanic with a new Outer Orbit 2 x 150W 14K Phoenix with 4 x 39W T5 actinics. Mine are about 16 inches below the lights in the center of the tank.

Baby polyps can move away from the mother pretty quickly with Protopalys.

Mine are on the sand and are about the same size, size of a dime. I have a 75gal with a 6-54w T5 TEK fixture 8" off the water surface.

My PDs are pretty small and have stayed so for the 3-4 mths I've had them. I have them near the bottom (24") under a 400W 20K.

I have never had PDs stay small, but the Nuclear greens I have fragged have all been slow to gain size. They all stayed small but reproduced with out issue, I no longer frag single polyps of Nuclear Greens cause I personally think that they seem to get bigger faster when attached to at least one other polyp. The main colony I have of NGs all new polyps are almost full size adults after about a month or so while attached to the main colony. Once fragged though they seem to stay small forever and takes months to get big like the polyps in the parent colony.....I have most of mine on the bottom to half way under my lighting and in med/high flow.....
