What is this, and is it bad? I see about four of them on this Monti frag, they only come out after lights go out.

Thanks, that's what I thought. Pulled the plug out, there were maybe ten underneath. I scrubbed with a brush. All gone now from what I see. What do the eggs look like? I'm going to check my other plugs now.

Unfortunately I have some Monti colonies growing off of big rocks in the tank, I have no idea how to handle checking those.

Do the go after chalices, or just montis?

Are these killed with revive? I do a revive treatment on all frags before they go in. Trying to figure out how they got in.
Kill it with fire. Monti eating nudi. I'd remove all monits, and dip in bayer and scrub the underside with a toothbrush. Eggs are usually on the underside.

Just google monti eating nudi eggs. They are little white eggs that are grouped. I'd keep an eye for dead spots on the large monti colonies. If you can't remove them, your best bet is a couple wrasses to eat them. They only eat montis, hence the name. haha The thing about bayer is it kills by destroying nervous systems I believe. Or thats what is thought. So it won't hurt the coral at all, but it'll kill any hitchhikers. I started dipping everything in bayer. But don't dip anemones in bayer. They'll die. Read up on bayer. It's been having a lot of success. And no dip will kill eggs. That could be how they got it. Start scrubbing your frags from now on if you weren't.

Thanks so much. I think I lucked out, this frag is clear across the tank from all the other Montis. All my other frags look clear, and no dead spots on any of the colonies or frags, including this one. I'll have to keep a close eye on everything for a while.

I need to order Bayer, so I've isolated this frag in a plastic cup for the time being, out of an abundance of caution. I have a QT but it's down for the count at the moment (of course).

And heck yea, I'll be scrubbing frags from now on. This frag had already almost entirely encrusted the plug when I got it a number of weeks ago so there wasn't much I could do there, but I'll probably start pulling off the plugs when I can as well. Those eggs freak me out.

Thanks again. Scary stuff!

You should check out this thread.
UWC has a new product coming out for in tank treatment of AEF that is supposed to be 100% reef safe and some of the early users are reporting MEN have also been eradicated..

Might be worth a shot if you can't remove some of the corals for dipping.

Hey just hoping you guys can help identify the one in my tank, looks cool but idk if it’s good or bad, any info helps thanks
