I’m thinking of leaving my aquarium lights off for about 3 days. Due to brown algae growing on everything. Not completely in the darkness but it will have some light from the living room/dining room area. But my big concern are these corals. What is your suggestion? Would it hurt them?

How old is your tank? What are your parameters? What type of cleaning crew do you have in the tank?

I would reduce your lighting schedule for now, not completely shut them down. If you can run in blue light only reduce the green, red and white. From what I can see from your picture it looks like green hair algae (GHA) I might recommend getting vibrant to help combat it if it is. Can you take a closer picture? It'll help with the ID

Brown hair algae. I did buy vibrant, came in today and started dosing

The parameters all look good. I don’t have them handy right now. The tank is about 1 year and 2 months. But I have to re-do it about 6 months ago due to a horrible outbreak of aiptasia.

Oi that aptasia... tank killer, I'm sorry to hear that :(

To keep my GHA under control I use a tang and an army of trochus snails in my DT, they a great job in keeping it at bay, in my QT tank I had an outbreak and used vibrant (7weeks) and for good measure fluconazole (14 days).

Just ordered a army of snails. I ordered 2 earlier this week but they came in way too small. They didn’t even make a dent in the algae. They spend more time sleeping than anything else. So I ordered a army
