number of fish and addition suggestions :)

We have a 46g bow front and wanted to check with everyone the number of fish we should have in this tank and any suggestions of peaceful fish to add.
So far..
2 clownfish
1 helfrichi firefish
1 firefish goby
1 orange spotted shrimp goby
1 harliqun shrimp
1 chromis
What is the max # of fish we should get and maybe some suggestions for other fish would be very appreciated

Well I have a 40 gallon and you can't put a lot in the tank because it gets crowed so not a lot of fish

You could add a school of Redeye gobies. Tiny little guys, but very cool to look at as they tend to stay in a school even if you only have 3 or 4.

Oh almost forgot to answer the other half of the question . . . :neutral:

There is no simple answer as to the "max" number of fish. Everything depends on the combination you have, and how much work you want to do in keeping your tank healthy.

What you have now is not too much so you can add something, but you are getting close to the limit depending on how much sand and rock you have in your tank.

There is no real correct answer to your question based on the size of yor tank, What you really must consider is the total ability of your system to process the amount of food that you are adding for your fish load. As you system ages and becomes more biologicly active you can gauge the amount of fish that it will support based on the reaction of your system to the current nutrient load. Depending on the age of your system and your scheme that you use to manage the load you will be able to increase or possibly decrease the load based in your system response. Based on your system pictures, I would say the system is young and no where near its full potential. Keep the fish load current and monitor your system as it ages, If it stabilizes wit the current load then you can add fish. Right now the system is not stable and based on your cyno growth I would say its very young and still needs to develop before you increase the load.

Thanks Dave! Where is the cyno bacteria?? Our local fish guy said that we have diatoms...sooo we got a conch to eat it. We test the water every few days and then we take it in to be tested every week. Thanks for the help!

I have learned its really up to you and how much you want to spend invested in time when it comes to maintenance, waterchanges and such. Can your skimmer keep up with the bioload.
