Nuocmam's 90

SnakeSkinTopDown.jpg

This one doesn't play nice with other corals. It's killed a few of my other LPS species!
Really? Thanks for the heads up. I have yet to see this thing put out any sweeper tentacles. But now I'm gona have to check on it in the middle of the night, in my underwear, with a flashlight.

Now that's what I call an update… You got to save some and space it out a bit man!... I hear you on the reeefbright picture IMO best blue Spectrum in the market ...Funny thing is me and you basically run the same light set up with same bulbs..Yeah that snakeskin doesn't put out many sweepers for me but if it comes close to anything with just touch it will kill very fast…

Only asking because back in the day I had some Nightmares that were similar and they look so similar.

Yup. It's got a no touchy touchy policy.

LOL! I'm really lazy these days for some reason. I picked up a Sfiligoi fixture for my new tank build. Gona run some halides with T5's and ReefBrites. I lost a big chunk of my JF Lepto to an acan echinata. Sucks when you try to cram corals next to each other and then they kill each other. lol!

Man I hate you… Really that was the exact set up that I was trying to do.. They stop making those Fixtures where did you find one? Hands down my favorite light fixture! The only reason I don't have one on the tank is for one I couldn't find one and for two I didn't want to stress out all my SPS when they were arty acclimating well to my T fives… But now that all my sticks are gone now is the time.

Man the funny part was when I went to go pick up the light fixture. It wouldn't fit in the trunk of my car even with the back seats laid down. I had to lay the front passenger seat all the way back and lay it across that into the back of the car. My wife had to sit in the back seat next to it all the way home. Ha!

Great pics and beautiful corals.

Fyi on vinegar...........that spike in PO4 you had is part of the process and normal with vinegar dosing. Once you've been dosing for 5-6 months it will get out of whack if you don't reduce your dosing. Even the old vodka directions say to cut dosing in half when levels zero out. I think that's where a lot of people quit and say vinegar dosing doesn't work without knowing what's going on with the bacteria. I went through the same thing............never lost any acros or colors and my PO4 was up over .50. Once I reduced my dosing the PO4 went down. I'm now dosing 8mls a day on a 90g system. The highest I got was 30 ml a day.

The other important factor is to just use only that. Don't use algae scrubbers, GFO, pellets, ect. in conjunction. It won't work and it's impossible to control and know what's going on. A skimmer and water changes is all that's needed. Passive carbon in a bag is fine for water clarity.

Nice pictures of the Snakeskin. It's definitely a stinger and it's also one of my favorite non hyped corals I have.

Would the snakeskin sting other chalices? I have it like a centimeter away from my Pink *******... Sorry if it's a bit hitchhiking on this thread, but I'm sure Nuocmam would benefit from knowing too. :)

Wow I just caught a few pages of this thread today. Im def going to have to read through this tonight. Amazing!

Thanks guys. Hey Mark that chalice is a no name piece.
I've had the snakeskin right next to others but haven't noticed it stinging anybody. So it's not the sweepers(I've never seen any on this piece) but just its flesh that will sting those it touches?
