There seems to alot of post here where people are having issues with this problem. There are many things that can cause algae problems but i will not go into all of them. Nusiance algae is caused by excess nutrients in the water column period. The most common cause i have seen is people tend to overfeed. We all love seeing our fish devour food, yes it is cool but they do not need much food to survive. Remember our tanks are closed small envirements that have to work hard to get rid of these nutrients. Yea i know you say i don't overfeed but if you have algae issues you probaly are. The other problem is excess Phosphates witch is candy for algae. This can come from fish food and source water. But i use rodi water it dosen't have Phosphates. Rodi is great but if not tested yes it can pass Phosphates if membranes and filters are not serviced. Like i said there are many other issues that can cause this problem. Water changes ,testing for Phosphates and Nitrates is something that needs to be done frequently. In my opinion overfeeding is the main culprit. Only feed what your fish will consume in 2-3 minutes and never let it hit bottom. I hope this helps .

+1. in general i would agree with this statement.

However, there are a few nuisance algae which can not only live, but thrive in a very clean H2O & system.
