i cant seam to get my phosphate levels to go down, they are always pushing lik e .50. I have a mini phosphate reaction I run along with carbon and change my water once every 14 days, I feed one frozen cube of mysis shrimp every day and some coral food 3 times a week. 4 fish, around 3 med sized ephuilla. am feeding too much?

Also how big is your system? How much water do you change? Do you feed the cube of mysis in one go? What coral food are you using and how much? What mechanical filtration are you using and how often is it cleaned?

sorry , four fish lol. i have a skimmer and i clean the collection cup regularly. the system is 44 gallons and i change 5g at a time. as for food i use reef roids and feed one frozen cube a day.

An entire cube once a day to 4 fish? And reef roids 3 to 4 times a week to 3 euphyllia?

Your way over feeding. I feed 1 cube a day to 8 fish(half frozen mysis in the AM, then half cube of LRS in the evening), and do not feed my corals(they get fed when I broadcast the tank with the frozen cube). You euphyllia while they appreciate a feeding, until you get your phophates in check, I would skip feeding them. Light is all they need for now.

Reef roids is loaded with phosphates.

As @homer1475 has said you're massively overfeeding. The reef roid could go down to once a week, and make sure it's targeted feeding not a broadcast. With regards to the fish, try to feed twice a day if possible. Cut the cube up into 1/4 and feed one ,1/4 in the morning and 1/4 in the evening. I find defrosting mine of an evening in RODI water and leaving it in the fridge until the morning works well. That way you can simply pour it in before you go to work etc.

With water changes I'd look at doing 10% weekly with how new your set up is. Once you're passed the year mark you could look to extend to 2 weeks, but currently you simply don't have the nitrate and phosphate export to support this

IF YOU HAD TO TAKE A REEFING EXAM, WOULD YOU PASS?
