OK, weird observation here. I have a 6 foot tank. While I have a sump, my protein skimmer is a Reef Octopus hob on the far left end of the tank. To the right of that is a CPR overflow to the sump. In the center of the tank is a hob filter. To the immediate right of that is the sump return. The right third of the tank is empty excep for a heater (2nd in sump). 2 powerhwads on either end.

The ICP test results always show uln, like 0.1 nitrates. However, I have notice a strange umbalance to the tank.

The roght half of the mixed reef has very strong softie growth but also is the heavy spot for gha outbreaks. The left half of the tank has struggling softies and less gha presence. LPS and SPS good on both sides.

It seems like the overall tank flow somehow results in heavier nutrients on the right half than on the left.

Anyone else notice this sort of thong? Any thoughts on this?

Hey ken, hope you are doing good.

It sound more like your difference may be from flow than nutrients. The tank is not big enough or stagnant enough to create a sort of cryptic zone where the nutrients may vary.

You can try changing flow a bit or moving a few things around and see how things react. What do you have for flow as far as wave makers? You may need to step up flow a bit to help?

I have two Hydor Koralia 1150' at each end of the tank, controlled by the Hydor controller. Alternating 8 seconds one side then the other. Flow also added by return from sump and one 400gph hob filter.
