Hi everyone! I dont even know how to begin this one but I'm hoping some have experienced the same thing and can provide some help.

Recently I had the pleasure of finding my, rather small, diamondback goby in the back part of my all-in-one after being convinced it had somehow died and got eaten by my cleanup crew. Got it out and everything was fine again. Come downstairs today and it's missing again, this time I put a sponge slightly below the intake to catch larger debris and stuff and theres my fish ontop of the sponge! Got it out and back into the main display now, but just wondering if anyone has any suggestions or ideas on how to prevent fish from getting sucked back there? Is there like an aquarium safe mesh screening I could superglue behind...? Any help would be great! Thanks in advance.

you could always use plastic canvas.

I don't think i would glue it on there though because you'll likely need to remove it and clean it often.. it'll get clogged up pretty quick.
I did something similar because my yellow clown goby would get into my oveflow. Since putting the canvas, he never went into it again.

How do you keep it attached if not glued?

My tank had a small panel behind the overflow that i could raise up and down to higher/lower the water level. I would just slip my piece of canvas between that panel and the overflow weir and it would hold in place.

I don't think the IM Nuvo 16 has something like that. I would maybe look into plastic paper clips, or small clamps that you could attach at the top of the overflow. Or some sort of "releasable" zip tips to attach it to the overflow weir (i did a quick search on amazon and "releasable" zip ties do exist).

The exact same thing happened to me with an im10 and a hifin goby. I recommend the in fish guard. It is easier to clean gunk and algae off than plastic mesh. I cut some holes in the too ti help with surface skimming but i don’t know if that was really needed. Amazon and intank both sell it last i checked
