Which one would you prefer despite the amount of water which one is a better buy? Please give lots of info. Don't let the thread go dry

I have the jbj rimless 30 gallon and its awesome! Great quality tank what surprised me most was how much flow the stock return pumps have.

I'm using a current sundial pendant that has 150watt mh and 2x32 watt pcs for actinic. I might switch to an aqua illumination sol blue.

I also recently got the JBJ 30, great tank. Doing my leak test today. I don't think that the IM is worth the extra large price tag that they have slapped on it.

Yes that is a great tank indeed. . very nice for a Nano !

What type of lights are y'all using is the ai nano good for it?

I don't plan on using led, I don't think they are quite where they need to be, at least not price wise. I am going to use a fishneedit t5ho with ati bulbs.

A lot will depend on what you are going to keep in the tank but if everything you add is not demanding on lighting then T5's or T5HO's perhaps supplemented with an actinic should IMO be fine. If however you add corals that require a lot more light then you will need to ensure that you have enough of the above over the tank, or go to some appropriate kind of LED lighting.

I want to have a variety lps, softie, and clam

Then I would go with a 30 and realize that if you are going to keep clams that you need a lot of light and you need to keep nutrients in the water as they need nitrate and you need to watch out for pests such as snails and sponges and nudis ... also when you buy a clam make sure that there is no damage whatsover to the byssal gland and that there are no tiny snails on the shell. Look at both siphons and make sure they look normal. Get the LFS to make a movement around the clam as it should close rapidly which is a sign of good health .. clams require a lot of care and attention to detail ... lots of into on them in my new book too

Hammer, acans, rics, zoas, frogspawn, blue maxima, and more

That sounds like a lot to me even for a 30 as you are going to put fish in there as well I am sure ... I would take it real slow and start with the easier ones such as Zoas, Palys, Rics, and maybe a Duncan but stay away from the others till the tank stabilizes and has been running for a few months. You can also think about a Candy Cane or maybe a Pavona Cactus coral but I would stay away from the Clam and the Euphyllias for a while.

Oh yeah of course, in this hobby patience is virtue. I am going to put a pair of clowns and a yasha goby/ pistol shrimp pair

Yes indeed patience is what you need and what we all need. Note ... if you put a pair of clowns in that tank and once they grow they will want to own the entire tank so if you are going to put anything else besides the Yasha, you should introduce it at the same time as the clowns. 3 fish + the Yasha + the shirmp should be all you add, besides the corals of course
