Wow, nice job.
I'll be driving from SW Michigan to Reno, NV. Prob 4 or 5 days, so I'm gonna need a slightly different approach on some things. I'm working out a strategy now...

Wow. Its been a crazy month as usual.

I moved again, about 5 hours.

I lost my Jawbreaker mushroom, as well as a bounce mushroom. The first due to low nutrients and high lights, the other got stung by my scolymia. What a shame.

My Motor City Corals Prom Queen is coloring up for the first time ever. Its been looking like a bleached acro since I first got it months ago. Now its finally getting signs of pink on the tips. Thanks Joel!

I donated some frags of my Montipora setosa to a coworker after I saw it harming my Beast montipora frag.

I'm observing serious coral warfare between an millipora and my jackolantern leptoseris, as well as a separtae case between an unknown acro and reverse superman monti.

What I initially was sold as an oregon tort turned out to be a myagi tort. Went back and got a true oregon tort this time. Fingers crossed.

Bought a burning banana Stlyocoeniella.

I've increased frozen feedings with mysid shrimp on my tank. It used to be once a week, now its closer to 5x a week. I definitely see an increase in color in some corals since implementing.

Monthly update.

Motor City Coral Prom Queen Acro. I received this awesome frag from Joel last year. It didn't like being shipped. Despite having low color the entire time I've had it, it continues to grow (albeit slowly). Figured out why tho. My phosphates and Nitrates consistently are testing 0.00 for the last 4 weeks, despite quadrupling how much I feed in a week.

Based on keyboard warrior research in the forms, I've decided to purchase NaNO3 to dose the tank with a DIY nitrate solution. I have a third unused dosing pump, so...why not?

I don't know how it happened...but I discovered two AEFW's tonight. I saw some very suspicious bite marks on my red dragon Acro that have become worse throughout this week. Just bought some Melafix online so I can knock them out sooner rather than later. I don't know where they came from since my last frag was bought more than 3 months ago. Found a good article on acropora eating flatworms however. "The Life Cycle of the Acropora Coral-Eating Flatworm (AEFW), Prosthiostomum acroporae; The Influence of Temperature and Management Guidelines"

Assuming the lowest temperature and highest temperature my tank MIGHT swing, eggs would take 11 to 15 days to hatch and 31 to 56 days to reach sexual maturity. Given 1-2 days for a larval settling period, I'm looking at 17 days between the first and second dose. The plan is to treat as soon as the Pond strength Melafix arrives, followed by a second treatment on the 18th day at 10mL/gallon of pond strength Melafix. Given my unfounded paranoia with this pest, I will do a third dose another 17 days later. I have used Melafix in the past for monti-eating nudibranchs with some success, but it killed quite a few acros in the process. Hopefully I have better luck this round.

Most of my acros are thoroughly encrusted on my rockwork, so I will be pulling the rock structures out and dipping them entirely for 4 to 8 minutes while blasting with a powerhead. I noticed several holes between some of the frags and the rocks, I will be filling those in with glue or epoxy, entrapping any stow-away's I can't blast off the rock. I will lose all the sweet feather dusters I have on the rock work, but it is a necessary purge at this point.

Before beginning treatment, I pulled out my liverock with attached acros and found eggs on a rainbow millipora as well as my PC superman acro.

I began treatment October 29th, 2022, using Melafix Pond at 150mL in 15 gallons of clean saltwater in a separate treatment aquarium, followed by a long soak in a separate clean saltwater aquarium for 30 minutes.

The dip knocked out amphipods, brittle starfish, bristle worms, and asterina starfish, but did not kill them immediately. They crawled out of the rockwork to escape as best they could.

Immediately after rocks were put in, flatworms were visible on the backside of my millipora coral. They writhed around, but would not let go until they were blasted with a turkey baster. Video to be inserted soon.

Wow! It been a year Since I updated this last. A few things have happened since my last post. I moved two more times, got a new job, lost some coral when they were being house sit for a few months before being moved into my new apartment.

The AEFW have not shown up since the three consecutive dips. I did not lose any corals from the dip. HOWEVER, I did lose a few good pieces due to neglect while I was moving around. I've setup a small frag/QT tank separate from my system. Still not sure how the AEFW got in the first time.
