Hello so I’m in the process of planning my cleanup crew for my 20g tank. I know I want snails only as I don’t want to deal with hermits killing/stealing snail shells. I believe I have a decent grasp on what I should have/need.

I’m thinking
4 Cerith snails
3 nassarius snails
2 trochus snails

Would this be a good cleanup crew? What would you adjust?

That sounds perfect. Those are my top picks. I think lots of people add too many because they are influenced negatively when they see pre made "clean up crews" that are grossly oversized.
In my EVO 13.5 I have
2 Trochus
2 Nassarius
3 Cerith
1 lazy butt Sand Conch
1 Peppermint Shrimp
By far Ceriths do the most work

In my Nuvo 20, I have:
1 Cerith
3 Astrea
1 Nassarius
1 Mexican Turbo

Turbo and the astreas do a decent job with the glass but the biggest help in my CUC is my bristle worms to be honest.

I have 4 Turbo Snails and 2 Fighting Conch in my Nuvo 20 and they do an incredible job. I am using it as a coral QT and got smaller Turbo snails that clean right up to the coral on the frag plugs. Once they get too big I will put them in my DT and get new smaller Turbos to replace them.

Edit: Just wanted to add that I do not have more snails because I do not have any fish in my coral QT. If I did I would definitely add a few Nassarius and Cerith snails.

Yeah I’m not trying to load up on snails just to have them die and I also don’t want to have to sit there and flip them right side up. That’s why I chose these guys.

How often do you find yourself flipping snails over? That was the main downside to turbos and astreas

Yeah I definitely will have fish so looks like I’m on the right track

Im a big fan of dwarf ceriths I have a dozen or so. A great snail for sand. Reefcleaners nerites are very active on rocks and are a good size for the 20.

Your plan sounds great. I would add in some dwarf Ceriths too. They work all day and get into the little crevices. I got my CUC from reefcleaners and have absolutely no complaints
