Hi guys, my tank is now 2 years old, I’ve had few limited growth when it hit the 1 year mark, since then it’s gone downhill, mushrooms shrivelled, lost toadstools, Xenia melting away, Zoas melting, the only thing that seems to of grown is the Kenya trees, it’s so frustrating because it used to look beautiful, I run 2 filter socks as filtration, my nitrates with api test come out at 0-5ppm and phosphates with Red Sea test come out at 0.08 or 0.16, both quite hard to tell, I get algae on the glass every day and around the powerhead, I feed hikari s pellets morning and mysis at night to try raise nutrients as I know softies like dirty tanks, I also believe I have some Dinos in the last 2 weeks, I run a ai prime aswell, I’ve attached a photo of what the tank looks like, would just love some feedback to see what direction I should go, I know my no3 is low and po4 abit high, should I be running gfo ? Feed more ? More fish ? Activated carbon for Kenya’s ? Many thanks to any replies.

how's your filtration? do you have surface agitation? Salinity and temp? What light are you using? Last question I'm asking because there's another member looking for lighting options for the same tank wanting to do softies :)

That's a neat aquascape! Sorry to hear about the struggle. Did you start with dry or live rock? How frequently are you doing water changes? What are your other parameters like?

My filtration is 2 filter socks, salinity 1.025, not much surface agitation I’d say, I have a mighty jet 326 but it’s not that powerful I don’t think, temp is 80 degrees.

I would say the nitrate and phosphate is an issue, try to get it up.

I am also curious what percentage you have the light at, I see the corals kind of stretching in towards the light. This is a pic of my 2 year old 15 gallon softie tank with an AI Prime set at 70% with 2 strong powerheads nitrate 10 and phosphate .15

Wouldn't hurt to angle your powerhead at the surface to increase surface agitation for oxygenation

How often do you do water changes? Also I would try dipping some of your corals to potentially remove pests or algae that could be harming them.

thank you so much, I started with dry rock and added a couple pieces of live rock after, I’ve gone to water changes once a month to try raise nitrates, not sure if that’s a good idea, my lfs did them I’ll ask for them tomorrow sorry I should of posted the values with this post
