Hi everyone.
I have been think my 75 gallon is not a good choice. Because I am on a low budget spilt between 2 freshwater tanks and a saltwater. I can't afford to replace my lights if one of them breaks. And I will not use a black box led(From what I can tell they are a fire risk) .

So I want to get a nuvo 30l. I already have stuff like heaters, ato, a small flow pump(200gph), is there anything else I should get? Are there any recommended mods, and replacements for stuff that come with the tank. For lighting I think I will go with 2 kessil a80 and once I can/want to keep stuff like clams, sps(is that possible in a 30g aio?) I will add a third.

Ok now stocking questions.
Is there a clam species that will do good in a 30g? Doesn't get massive, won't consume enormous amounts of ca, alk.
can I keep fairy, flasher wrasses in a 30g is or that to small? Is a 30g to small for a 2 gobies 2 spot goby, randalls goby with a shrimp?

for stock I was thinking

2 O.clownfish
1 2 spot goby
1 randalls goby with shrimp
controversial fish
1 mcoskers flasher wrasse(if there is a smaller flasher wrasse that would be better)
1 captive bred mandarin dragonet

I know the mandarin will need pods so I don't plan on getting one until I can reliably culture pods, and phyto and hatch brine shrimp.
thanks for the help :)

Does anyone know anything about keeping a 30 gallon reef?(sorry if that seems rude. let me know and I will try to not say stuff like that)

The typical advice here is to go with the biggest tank you can afford. However I do not think you should go above 40-50 gallons on the first tank (unless you have endless resources and a lot of friends who are into reefing).

That being said, I wouldn’t get a nuvo 30. They are too narrow. You want as much width as possible so that you can have a decent aqua scape. I would suggest looking into their nuvo 40 or 50.

I have a Nuvo 25, and run i without much equipment (no skimmer, no powerhead). I upgraded the return pump to the bigger Mightyjet and use that for the flow.

what do mean its too narrow it is 15 inch's wide
EDIT: I forgot about the back area for filters yeah your probably right on it being to thin for a great aquascape

Get a pair of AI Prime or a single XR15. Kessil a80 is not a good way to spend money.
the reason I want a smaller tank is so I don't have to buy a 400$ light
how often if at all have you had issues with the ai primes?

Here to go

I have a 30L setup as a reef. I run 2x Prime HDs on mine and am having great success. Aquascaping wasn't an issue at all.

I actually think the 3x A80s would be cool. That was my initial plan until I happened in to the pair of Primes for a deal I simply couldn't pass up. I might add a third before long, not because I need the power, but just to eliminate some shadowing and dim corners.

I upgraded the returns to random flow generators, but otherwise I'm running the tank pretty much as it came (two media baskets instead of a sock). Stock pump, etc.

Currently have a mix of softies (mushrooms and zoas) and LPS (hammers and frogspawn) that are all doing well.
