My nuvo fusion 40 gallon comes in tomorrow, and I decided to start a build thread for it. I wanted to get a few opinions on what equipment I should use. I need some help deciding on lighting and circulation. My options for both are shown below.

Lighting
Radion XR30 gen 2
AI Prime HD

Circulation
Koralia nano 240 & 425
Ecotech MP-10wqd

I plan on keeping a mixed reef with the following inhabitants.

Fish
2 x Frostbite Clownfish
1 x Longnose Hawkfish
1 x Flasher Wrasse?

Inverts
Peppermint Shrimp
1 x Fire Shrimp
2 x RBTA

Corals
Acans
Frogspawn
Duncans
Various Zoas
Birdsnest
Monti Cap

Which combination of lighting and circulation would be best for these inhabitants? Any opinions would be appreciated.

I picked up the tank a day ago and finally got the stand and rock. I played around for the scape for a bit, and here’s what I came up with. Let me know what you think!

Here’s the latest fts of the tank. I lost all my fish to brook about 3 weeks ago, so I am waiting for about another month before restocking the tank. I added some hammers and a torch coral, along with a green bible tip anemone. I also added a tunze 3155 ato and the 9004 dc skimmer, which are very nice. Still not sure on fish stocking, so any suggestions would be appreciated. This was taken closer to lights out, so some of the coral isn’t as extended as it usually is.

Tough break with disease. I recently had a tank wipe out due to velvet after having the tank running for 4 years.

Learned my lesson and on my new build everything will quarantined.

I’m still trying to figure out how it got into my system. The only think I can think of is a coral frag that I put in my tank about two weeks before everything died. Before that, it had been two months since the last addition to my tank, a potters angelfish that had been through an 8 week quarantine.

dang, that makes it even harder. What did you medicate with in QT? Did all of the fish get QT?

I did two weeks of prazi after they ate consistently and followed it up with copper. Everything went through the same quarantine period and treatment so I don’t know what would have caused it.

That is devastating. Seems that a 6 week coral QT in addition to fish QT is needed to truly eliminate disease.

At the very least your loss has changed the way I think about things. I guess Ill be running an additional coral QT on top of my fish QT system.

Or is it that the copper doesn't treat Brook?

Formalin is the only treatment for brook, but it’s pretty hard on fish, so I don’t use it in quarantine unless I see any signs. Brook kills everything quickly, in my case two days for everything, so that leads me to believe that the fish didn’t have it in quarantine. I will be quarantining anything that goes into this tank from now on thanks to this experience.

Well you have influenced me with your story for sure. I will be sure to have a separate invert qt. Should be pretty simple and easy to run.
