Hello! I was hoping to get some opinions on what has worked for you all…
I have a Nuvo Fusion 10 that I have been using just as a coral QT, with 2 astrea snails. I’m curious to those that have this tank, what do you use in your media basket for the 1st, middle, and bottom compartments? It’s comes with media to start off with, but once you change it, what all do you put in it? Since it’s mainly a coral QT and I’ve read that they prefer a little bit higher nutrients, I don’t want to put anything in that will cut nutrients out completely. Also, how often do you change out the media, especially since I only have corals and 2 snails? I do 10-15% water changes weekly using my DT water and top it off with DT water as needed. Thanks for any advice!

For media, from top to bottom I have polyfil/sera clear, biomedia, chemipureblue, and then more biomedia.

For biomedia I never change it out, for chemipure blue I changed it about every 3-4 months, and for polyfil/sera clear it depends on how quickly and dirty it gets. Usually once a week it gets changed or washed

Are you talking about this? That’s really interesting! I’ll look into that along with the sera clear. I’ve heard about the chemipure blue, so that’s definitely something I was planning on adding. What do you have for bio media? If I had added dry rock, is that sufficient?

Disposable/cleanable media up top. Carbon or chemical in the middle chamber and your Bio in the bottom. But once your tank is established you can take out the bio media if you chose and run something else.
Dry rock could work depending on your bio load, but ceramic media will have more initial surface area.

Yes but I use one that I find at my LFS from a aquarium brand, entire bag is like $10. But this one should work too.

With sera clear you can actually use and just wash every week and reuse it until it gets really dirty and clogged.

I use marinepure which I found success with but some people say it leaches aluminum, not entirely sure.

Thank you for your helpful replies! What do you put in this tiny middle chamber, if anything? Right now I just have my heater.

Also, can you put chemipure blue in your DT sump? Would you put it in this first part where I have my mechanical filtration and bio balls?

I run a protein skimmer in my middle chamber (eshopps nano)

I'm waiting for my IM15 to arrive and I'm contemplating the Bubble Magus Mini Q for my middle chamber. Do you think it's worth having? I know a lot of people skip the skimmer on Nano's

I only have had a good experience with the eshopps nano works out of the box. Do I think its worth having? Well I do water changes and the skimmer still fills up with a pretty good skimate. Plus it helps with PH, aeration, etc.
