I just got the nuvo 20g and Im just getting to setting it up. When it comes to setting up the mini max I just wanted to get some opinions from you guys. First I do want to always run a form of carbon and gfo. Since only one reactor will fit in a chamber and my ghost skimmer is taking up the other, what would be better to run in the reactor? Should I run gfo in the reactor and put carbon in a filter bag or vise versa? Thanks.

Carbon cleans the waters clarity and removes toxins. You could place carbon in a bag and place in the return of one of the chambers?

Yeah I was thinking about doing that, just trying to figure out what I would benefit more from, having the carbon in the reactor or the gfo

I usually run the gfo in the reactor because it tends to clump up, do you have high phosphates?

I'm just setting up the tank. Just seems like with every tank I have phosphates always seem to be a little high, never fails. So I was just curious what would be better. I might just run carbon in it and see if my phosphates ever get High. Hopefully I get lucky on this tank ha.

You can always switch between the media, run gfo to get the phosphates under control and then run carbon. I have the Two Little Fishies 150 reactors (HOB) on the back of my Fusion 40, I don't know if you have room in the back of your tank to add the powerhead. They are barley noticeable, take only a few inches of clearance and work well.

Carbon and GFO can be run in the same reactor. It'll give you the massive benefits that you get for using reactor vs bag for carbon as well as keep the GFO from solidifying.

I have never tried to run the two together, but I have read that running carbon needs a different flow rate than gfo. From what I have read, the gfo will grind against the carbon and one will be pulverized and go into the tank. But, I also know that some carbons contain gfo so it would be up to you to decide.
