Hello, as the title states, i want to create a mushroom dominated nuvo10 nano. I know my space is very limited to more than likely i will limit my corals to a select few.

Am trying to figure out the best aquascape for mushroom growth and maybe grow out/propagation down the road. I was thinking maybe a coral bone filled bottom substrate with maybe a piece of dry rock or 2? Also minimal flow and minimal fish/inverts. I want this nano to be as shroom friendly as possible.

ideal light and flow would be low im assuming? although i have seen alot of shrooms that are adapted to higher flow

cheers!

On a nuvo 10, with looking to sofites or mushrooms dominant I would say go Kessil A80, or AI Prime. They both are single pendant with great coverage for that size tank.

Low flow can be acheived by upgrading the stock return pump to something with a bit more umph like a sicce 1.5 (or 1.0 whatever fits) and a random flow generator from @Vivid Creative Aquatics.

I would say upgrade to the InTank media basket and run some simple carbon and floss. use second chamber for some marinepure gems, and the last chamber for ATO, Heater, and return pump.

I run a 14Nuvo peninsula, and 25 lagoon. Love the little tanks.

For aquascape I would say do rubble rock from BRS, its the marcos rock broken into smaller pieces. It will give plenty of real estate for stuff to grow.

Inverts just go with some trochus snails and an easy fish or two and you're on your way!

Thank you for the reply and the very good information, I will definitely be looking into all of your recommendations.

I think you've got an excellent plan. Maybe look into a small manufactured tonga tree from West Mariculture or somewhere. I have a growing ricordia collection that's wrapped itself around the rock and looks super cool.

I'd like to see a photo of that

I really like this idea, how did you initially get the mushrooms to attach it self onto the branch? I suppose it was already pre mounted on some rubble and you just mounted that? But yes that’s a super cool idea, I am def going to get a piece of branch

It was on a frag plug so I just dropped it into the holes. Now it's starting to grow

does anyone have expierence with kessil lighting and mushrooms? wondering about growth and coloration. ive used kessil before but its very "spotlighty", and ive never noticed much good growth from kessil on my shrooms. i may be looking into another option, maybe ai prime or par38 bulb?

A little one month update, Reefkoi bounce and OG bounce are doing well for being in the tank for a week only. My patch of gsp and captain jerk Palys look like they’re taking off.

Currently running floss, followed by some carbon. Not sure if I should add purigen or some chemipure, the tank seems to be doing very well. I have one small yellowtail damsel in there that I feed very lightly, so there’s not a lot of things going inside the tank to make the water go bad, anyone have thoughts on this? Weather I should add better carbon/gfo and purigen?
