Nuvo40 filtration help!!!!

so currently I’m running from left to right

1-Media basket with filter floss and chemi pre elite
2 10 bio balls and my temp probe
3-Return chamber Tunze top off and sicce 2.0 return pump
4-10 more bio balls and a cobalt heater
5-Tunze 9004 skimmer

My question is will the work? Should I ditch the skimmer for the filter sock? I noticed the filter sock kept the water cleaner looking but I’ve also read filter socks to not remove as much as a skimmer

The tank is fairly new and I have a reactor to add later with gfo or whatever I may need my life said at this point it is not needed

Any help would be appreciated

I would skip the bioballs and the skimmer has to go in one of the 2nd chambers.

The Tunze 9004 only fits in a outter chamber
Also the issue with the bioballs is my rock was not live rock when I purchased it. I forget the exact name but it already has the purple color to it I was told it will eventually turn into love rock. Is this true? I have to leave them in till I make sure the rock is seeded and live rock

Anyone have any idea how long this will take I took some advice from my lfs and I see not many people use bioballs but I’m committed at this point about 2 months in already cycled and have fish don’t wanna pull them out too soon and cause any issues

No reason that won't work. You can just siphon out the skimmer chamber every other water change.

You can remove bio balls later after the tank is more established.

My setup was almost the same as yours. I used the filter sock in place of the media trays, and kept carbon in the second chamber with the thermometer.
