Hi all, I have no idea how to tune the skimmer at all, im a complete noob. is there any video instructions on how to get it right at all? Thanks!!

Turn the skimmer off. Close the main valve (the one with "open" and "close" arrows written on it) and adjust the black screw so that it's open 1/16-2/16" on the bottom. Turn the skimmer back on. Then slowly open the valve, wait a few minutes, and continue increasing until the foam is bubbling about right under the collection cup.

so many bubbles are just in sump and tank though. is this normal?

This is the best I’ve got it. Is this how it should be?

Just watching the video now... I'm assuming the skimmer is fairly new? (it looks like it may have been recently overflowing or spitting out the top) All skimmers will foam excessively for the first few days - this is completely normal. Once they build up a bit of scum on the inside of the main skimmer body they're not quite as nuts.

Hopefully in this short clip you can see that the water level in the skimmer body is about 1.5-2" below the collection cup ring (the thick wide grey portion), where the bubbles end (a bit higher where the collection cup meets) and where the brown scum I was referring to has built up as a ring near the top of the skimmer body.

If it's overflowing what you can do is connect the hose it should've come with to the collection cup and have it drain into the sump while it breaks in again. Without seeing how it was performing before the video, only you could say if it's better but at the rate it's foaming it will probably still fill up rather quickly. You can try playing around with the white/black knob and raising/lowering the screw to see if that helps at all.

It’s quite loud too lol

I’ll let it run for a few days as is

It looks better from what I can see in the last video. It should quieten down a bit as well (especially when the collection lid is on).
It looks like it’s settled down a bit In terms of bubbling in the cup. Will check it tomorrow and make adjustments :)

SO I think ive got it dialled in but obviously need to keep making little adjustments ha!

BUT how can i stop the micro bubbles in sump? theres heaps still and they are pushing through to the main tank? will this just continue?

FWIW I hate this skimmer, the bubble magus apparently is so easy to use, this is as tempremental as my wife

Little adjustments are normal, regardless of skimmer. If you're getting microbubbles then it needs more air. Open the white valve with the black center a bit and they should stop.

I can't comment on the Bubble Magus, but I almost never touch my Nyos skimmer.

Sorry, can't type tonight. I'm not sure if you heard the audio on that clip I posted but that's my return pump (another story) - the Nyos Quantum is actually fairly quiet.
