Nyos 160 help!

8 months running mine and it fills the sump with micro bubbles. Figured that was normal. I’m new lol.
What's your water level? I'd say 8" give or take a 1/2" should be fine without issue? Also, what's your SG? If you're well below 1.026, that may be your issue?

I tried 7-10”. I’m at 10 now but will be raising it again soon. I think my problem was skimmer needing adjustment from new tank to decent stock tank and my errors. Also i think Nori May mess with it. PBT is gentle but only if it can munch during the day

Yes, it may take some readjustment as the tank matures, but not much. I wouldn't think that nori would cause issues, unless there's a lot?
Also, I think BRS just did a video about water height in these skimmers? Worth a watch.

I just cleaned mine yesterday (citric acid bath) and I started it with the internal water level a little lower than usual, knowing that it will rise and it's already back to its normal level in less than 24hrs.
My water level is currently 7 1/2", a little lower than usual, must've bumped my gate when I was working in there? I also increased my return pump a little, so that would explain the drop. Sorry, thinking out loud, how's yours doing now?

Thanks for more details, I gave it a 50/50 vinegar water bath and ran it, then placed it back in. It's still pumping micro bubbles. I've just got it all set to a wet skim, pulling out a light coffee color and then the level is dropping slightly every day.

So each day I'm opening a the air tube slightly to increase the water level, hoping after 2 weeks it will settle and the micro bubbles will stop.

I've got an old deltec sc2060 that I needed a new impeller for (just bought the impeller) so I might run that. It's solid german build and rated to 2000 litres, so probably a better skimmer even though it's 8 years old haha.

If the micro bubbles don't stop, I may switch and sell the NYOS. 1 month countdown lol

I've tried 6 inches to 11 inches haha. nothing worked! Sucks that it's such a normal problem to have across all of the NYOS range

How long did you leave the skimmer at any particular height? I would try at the recommended height (8") and give it some time at that height. (If you haven't done so already?) Out of the two years that I've had my skimmer, only once did a have a slight issue with it overflowing and it was from a particular package of food, which was weird, because it's the only frozen food I feed and it never happened before or since.
I hope it works out for you, but I'm aware that no two tanks are alike. Good luck and keep us posted.

This is how dirty it was before cleaning and this is the next day. I pulled it out of the acid bath around 8 or 9pm and it was producing skimmate that night. The picture of it working was taken around lunchtime.

It's staying at 8 inches right now - just tweaking the air open a couple of times a day to keep skim going. Hopefully it settles in and stabilises :) will find out in 2 weeks and let everyone know

Took about 7 days at 8 inches and a slight opening of the air tube each day to get the bubbles to lift. Second hand skimmer working as expected.

Skim level looks good for now, thanks everyone for all the help.
