My Nyos 160 is coming up on 1 year of service, skims well but one issue. Every time I turn it off for a few minutes and then turn it back on the bubbles don't start. The pump sounds like its trying to start but no bubbles until I remove the airline tube and blow into it. Then no issues, it runs smoothly.

Any ideas what can be done to fix this? Thanks!

have you tried fully taking apart the pump and cleaning it?

It should only really take 30 minutes tops :)

I have had the same problem even after cleaning,i have to put something into the pump to free it up
i have had so many problems with it i just dont turn it off,i pull the cup off while its running

I just went through this with the exact same skimmer. Run it in vinegar or citric acid and take it apart and clean it as mentioned above. It worked for me.

I recently dipped the whole skimmer in vinegar for about an hour but will take the pump out next time and clean it well, hope that does it.

This skimmer is high end and it shouldn’t do that. I’d go back to Nyos for resolution of some kind.

My 160 does the same thing, I have to blow air into the air tubing to get it going.

I have only cleaned mine once and it seems to have this problem on start up when it starts to get dirty again. But yeah, weird for such a pricey skimmer.
