Hello all,

Hoping you can provide some guidance / advice. I recently purchased a Nyos Quantum 120 from a user here on Reef2Reef. It had been used in their tank so I assume it's already fairly broken in. I put it in my sump at exactly 8" of water which is what is recommended by the users manual.

It has been running for about 1 1/2 weeks but still throwing a ton of micro bubbles into the sump and thus out the return. I put up a video on youtube hoping someone may see the problem. It looks to me like its drawing the bubbles from higher up in the chamber.

How much tuning have you done? Mine does that for the evening after I clean it or put a new filter sock in. Sometimes just playing with it to dial it in will fix it.

The air adjustment is completely open. If I start to close it the problem actually gets worse as the bubbles move lower in the chamber. The water level adjustment tube is set to fully open. The fine water level adjustment is about 40 - 50 percent closed.

It's really hard to tell from the video, but it looks really turbulent in the lower body. Is the bubble plate missing? It looks in the video like the bubbles are not being directed up - but being thrown around. If it is all in there as it's supposed to be, sorry, just trying to help.:)

Absolutely no need to apologize, I appreciate ANYTHING people may find. Yes the bubble plate is there. BUT upon further inspection.... It looks like it is actually upside down in the skimmer..

Alright, So I have resolved that, However sadly the problem is still not completely resolved. It looks like the inner glass tube in the air silencer is broken ultimately making it so I cannot have the air control. Do most people run the air wide open anyways?

I run mine almost fully closed. My water level in my sump is under the recommended height though. Will measure when I get home.

Hey nick did you ever figure out the issue with your skimmer? I’m having the exact same issue on my nyos 160
