Nyos Quantum Water Level???

Does anyone else keep their Nyos Quantum Skimmer in 9in of water? I know the manual says 21cm(8in) but mine seems to work better at 9in. My dad has had this skimmer since I think 2012. About a week ago I took it a part to clean it. The first two pictures are at 8in in the sump, the last two are at 9in. Each time the Water level tube is fully closed and the air adjustment screw is fully open. Should I close the air screw so the water level is closer to where the cup attaches to the skimmer body? I have the silencer attached to the outside.

Yes, I had to keep it in deeper water as well. In addition to that, I had to close the minor and major adjustments quite a bit to get skimmate. Just have to play around with it. You want it to bubble up about half way up the neck, visible in the collection cup.

In my case, it works best when water level is at "A" of this "quantum".

Hi Nick

I have been using the NYOS 160 for around 2 years and I’ve found the best way is to run the skimmer with the ‘air screw’ fully open.

You adjust the water height by turning the long tube at the back (and the fine turn screw on top) and ideally the part were the water/bubbles meet should be near the bottom of the skimmer cup were it joins the body. Looks like maybe picture 3 roughly

Mine is set in about 9 inches of water as per the instructions

I am not in front of the tank, but I believe mine is at about 9.5 inches if I remember correctly. I can confirm later today. Regarding the bubble level, every tank is different but I like to skim a little wetter. If I put my bubble level as low as some of these other suggestions, I just get a ton of skimmate all along the neck, and not enough in the cup.....which is why I keep the bubble levels about halfway up the cup.

Hi, new to this site. Been on another forum for years. I got a nyos when they first came out to replace a vertex. I have yet to tune mine in. For about 2 years it just ran wide open. Last 2 days I have been recommitted to tuning it in. Still can’t. Can anyone give me an idea of where you are seeing the water level in the long tube. At water level, near the neck, or above? Thanks

I have done similar to what you have done however mine is in 11 inch of water and it looks similar to yours.. what do you think....
My tanks about 2 months new skimmer about 2 weeks old. Had issues dialling it in but not sure if this looks okay..
