does anyone have the new nyos torq reactor? I have a 112 gallon tank and want to run bio pellets what size should I get? is the 2.0 good? And has anyone seen benefits of this reactor?

I have a 2.0. Run gfo and carbon. Easy to set up. Easy to maintain. Does not require a lot of cleaning. Works wonderfully and it’s pretty. Had a brs before it. Night and day difference between performance, build quality, and ease of use/maintenance. If you have room in your sump, get one.

Go with the 2.0. Base is the same for all 3 and it’s nice to have the extra room inside.

Nice to just twist it to set the water flow. Plus I love the water fall look coming down the sides.

Thanks for the reply! Do you change both media at once? Is it easy enough to change at separate times?

My gfo is on the bottom which last longer than my carbon. So My change rate is 2:1. I just undo the reactor, flip it upside down and shake lightly, dump the carbon in a bowl. Push cartridge back down, rinse carbon and reload. So yes. It is easy to change. No more fighting trying to unscrew something, no more water leaking when I undo it and I can clearly see what going on inside it. I actually just got done changing both out. Took less than 10 minutes but I wasn’t in a rush.

Excuse the bubbles in the pic. I wiped down the sides too. It makes bubble for a day or so until it gets a film on it. No micro bubbles.

That's great to hear! Almost got the Spectrapure or BRS till I saw this. Have a NYOS protein skimmer and love it.

Reactors a tad cooler to look at than the skimmer. I love watching the water come down the sides.

I Was almost pulling the trigger on this reactor, but did some research and learned that through time the upper cover seal gives in, not keeping up with pressure and often releasing all media into the sump.

I wonder if the issue was due to the first couple of units and has been corrected?

I never read about that issue. I got mine 5 months ago in April. My top seal is tight as can be.

Even if you pull the cap off when it’s running it won’t blow media out. Unless your aggressively tumbling the media.

I could see the foam clogging in the top and plugging to take the cap off. But really no pressure in this one.

I was curious about this reactor too but I always had concerns about the water spilling over the edge would create an unpleasant noise.
