Okay, was set on Vertex Omega 180i but lfs unable to get it so before ordering it wanted opinions.

Reefer 450 with large bioload

NYOS 160 vs. Vertex Omega 180i vs. Reef Octopus Classic 200?

Looking for personal experience and reviews

I hate to come straight in with a "what about something not on your list!", but...

What about a Tunze 9410? I run one and love it. It's beast for it's size (only 16" tall). And I think it's <$350. Definitely the best features and of the skimmers I've used, one of the easiest to maintain.

Oh man another one to add to the list hahahahha

I've been doing some research for my next build, and I've pretty much narrowed it down to either the Tunze or Nyos. I did consider the RO, but did not consider the Vertex Omega. I'm not familiar with those...so now I have to check it out.

As you know, my Nyos 160 is rocking on my 450 with very heavy load. I also run bio pellets and dose hydrogen peroxide through an Oxydator... I have zero algae or cyano.

The Vertex build quality is excellent. I Love how they incorporate both PVC and acrylic. Having a PVC lid is awesome especially if you ever accidently drop it. They don't shatter like acrylic. Also I like the optional Supra self cleaning head.

Thanks for input. What is the supra self cleaning lid?

My RO 200 classic is still kicking butt (needs a new impeller but that is expected)

I am so sorry, the self cleaning head is the Vertex Vectra. I was just ordering a Vertex Supra sump and mistakenly typed Supra. Here is pics of the Vertex Vectra self cleaning head.

Hi, I have and RO 200 Classic and it remove a lot of junk, pretty dark and really good results... but old style pump is a piece of junk, make sure that it's come with the new aquatrance.... A friend of mine bought an RO classic with old style pump and stopped working after a year, mines too, them we upgraded with the bubble blaster pump and it is really great and is a direct replacement...

Mini Bubble King Royal Exclusiv Rock's too and it's built like a tank.:) Club member has one sweet skimmer.

Sorry to go off topic but I have been telling people about Oxydators for many years I even told Albert Theil about them, in fact I sent him his first Oxydator a model "D" How do you rate it?

How would I rate it!?! Well let me tell you... I honestly think it's the single coolest thing, must have for a reef tank. I'm blown away by it. I struggled with Cyano for months. I had zero cyano just 1o days after picking up an Oxydator! Oh, and I thought my water had always been ultra clear before the Oxydator... now I know what clear water really looks like lol.

Glad your impressed with it and yes it's a great aid in the fight to get rid of Cyno plus the increase in water quality with higher redox. I have been using Oxydators for around 30 years now and I know of many refers who are converts. Like Albert Thiel I wouldn't run a tank without one unless I was using ozone but IMO Oxydators are better for many reasons. Check out Albert's book for the piece I wrote for it for more information.
