My pair of O.'s, well it's really the female of course, has decided that she is hell bent harassing my C. argi. :squigglemouth:
I read up in them before purchasing the C. argi last year... mostly said they Cherub might pick at my O's, and the O might chase a bit if the Cherub was too near "home", which in this case is a big head of Duncan.
I lost my anemone in a skimmer pump outage ... where i ordered a new pump and company kept telling me it was being sent... but it took FOREVER. Then my Koralia died too, and I had to wait for that shipment as well. (I have an illness where I cannot drive... ugh.) :tsk:
Lesson learned, I now have both skimmer pump and koralias on backup in my closet!
I bought the Cherub as a tiny little juvi... about the size of my thumb pad, kept it for a couple months in QT... introduced it to tank. Not much fuss. It was still small, the O's chased it a bit if it got near home.
Now about 5 months later things have changed... Cherub has grown, he seems to mind his own business and groom his green patch on the wall, doesn't pick at the corals, but the Female O is basically hunting it! Even the little male is jumping into the chase sometimes.
O clown pair is about 9 years old.
Is the loss of the Nem the stressor that has caused this?
There are no other conflicts in the tank...
Other fish are YWG (also about 9)
Scooter blenny
Royal gramma
65 gal hex. So, not a long tank, but deep.
I have been considering creating a rock wall type scape with caves and pilars... but I think that would be even more open than my rock currently is.
Would adding a new Nem help?
I was really hoping to get rid of some shrooms (read: they are everywhere) and relandscape before adding a new Nem.... O's seem OK with the big duncan.
Anyway... would take an entire stripdown of the tank to get the Cherub out... 100% rock removal. And then I guess I'd have to give it back to the store.
Was hoping for an alternate solution. I really like the little fella.
