I was recommended this product to bond my rock together. Yay or Nay?

I've use a few different marine epoxies.

Some of the JB WELD products works. SOme of these (color tends to be white) don't harden properly. I don't know about Oatey, but if it's white colored I would bet against it. If it is dark grey or black it should work.

Hopefully someone else has real experience. If you buy it, let us know! Thanks :)

no knowledge here, still going to say no...

So to be clear, it's not a issue of these chemicals causing a problem it is an issue of it not functioning properly correct?

Yes it doesn't function correctly, and ime corals that were bonded to frag plugs or rocks with the soft-setting 2 part failed to thrive most of the time. Corals that were set with the 2 part that sets up very hard would encrust reliably well. (Can't say it this was due to the chemical differences between the two. Never had out-right toxicity with either.

What do you recommend to afix my rocks together. I know inexpensive and anything reef is a bit of an oxymoron but I would prefer a box store alternative if possible if the price is right so I can evade shipping time.

I used Instant Ocean holdfast in the past. Worked really well but i let it cure out of the tank, was just rock. I have heartburn thinking about putting hardware store chemical anything in my reef. Not to say it will or wont work, just too many unknowns that i dont want to figure out later.

JB waterweld is safe to use and hardens fully underwater and remains hard. If you use a lot then yes, the skimmer will go crazy. If your building your 'scape then who cares, probably not skimming yet anyway.
