Just saw this gorgeous fish at my lfs. I've read mixed things about it's aggression. I have a pair of clowns and a Midas Blenny. Yay or nay?

I'd be very iffy about it. But worse case scenario you buy him and if he starts to attack or harass your blenny then catch him and take him back.
If it was me I woould pass. Mainly cus of the blennies sake.

I'd be thinking it would be alright, to my knowledge if the dottyback tries anything on the blenny, it will learn quickly not to.

Ime they aren't up there with the very aggressive dotties but are a step up from the normally fine fridmani levels. Sometimes they are fine but you get the odd mental one. They are better with species that can stand up for themselves in a similar way to six line wrasse.

I've dealt with a few of them and they are hands down one of the nastiest, most aggressive species of dotyyback that I have dealt with.

Good to know, with it not being captive bred I imagine that only amplifies it's aggression. I think I'll pass. Nice look fish though!

Wise decision! Now if you want a cool fish get the fridmani electric blue. Or the orchid, or black cap basslet, etc etc

They have venemous fangs for defence, they can handle themselves ;)

They are very similar right? Neither are commonly seen in Australia

This wasn't my experience but I've only dealt with a few tank bred individuals and kept them with things that would stick up for themselves. I definitely wouldn't recommend if you are wanting to keep it with timid fish or those that inhabit similar areas or niches.

In the future I was considering a schooling fish like a red spot cardinal or something small like that so I don't think a dotty is the way to go.

No I think it would be foolish to add one with those or things like firefish, peaceful wrasse etc. They would be better with more aggressive damsels, tangs etc
