If anyone has followed my post you will know that I have had this turf like red algae for a little over a year and is finally on the way out. Now before that, I had Cyano "red slime" for a bout a year straight, that was due to a source water contamination; solved since, Here is my recent observation: Now that I have cleaned the sump and doing excessive water changes, the red "turf" algae that has been a nuisance in my rear...before it shall we say, exits the tank. It becomes like a "red slime" before peels off leaving a clean surface waiting for coralline to grow. Here is the question, was the "turf" algae I was experiencing a real macro algae; or was it Cyano in an advanced stage of development? Or, could the Cyano be overtaking the decaying red macro. Opinion? I have to find my copy of Julian Sprung's Algae book...dig, dig dig.
