I believe there are various kinds and one is called Bio-Spheres I think, and there is a Bio-Stars also on the market ... hopefully they sell them in PR ..
This is the post about a lr substitute.

Yep. In my 7.5 g I am going to use rock but I don't of a way to get 12.5 lbs in it.
Do you have a pic of the 7.5 gallons so I can see what it looks like and may give some suggestions if I can ... One can always break rock up and make it in smaller pieces so they fit in. I have seen rock in 3 gallon ones so in a 7.5 you should be able to IMO.
I only have water in it at the moment but I can.

Yeah I am pretty good about making rock fit when I want to.
I have seen different places where they make rock and then use that. I have built some a year or so ago so I may utilize some of that
It be cool if u able to find rock shape like a bonsai. I think I know what I will do for the next tank![]()
Yes. To use the sand for my 7.5 coffee table build.i like it more and has more room for rock and equipment.
What happened if I may ask ...Sad news. Today the tank was taken down.
Here is a photo of the tank now. Decided not to make my own rock. Because of the cure time. Maybe another day just not this build.
