The problem is that I don't know how many times I use each of my six filter socks.
I originally had 12 socks, but now down to six (that's not important). I use mesh socks, and to clean, I simply run them under water while rubbing fabric to fabric. About once a year I soak all my socks in a little bleach, rinse them out, and now good for another year.
The issue is I typically wash the sock that came off, and put it right back on. When lazy, I'll put on a fresh one, and most likely do the same with that one as far as washing and immediately returning it to the sump. At the end of a year, I never know if I've used one sock 100 times, 10 times, or not at all.
Simply solution....old school, with index cards.
The first thing I did was number all my socks just below the rim using a Sharpie.

I then added a little slot with scrap wood to hold index cards.....and glued that to the inside of the stand door using epoxy....close to where the sock is located.

The index card has six columns, numbered for each sock. Now when I pull a sock off, I simply mark the card. I can then see how many times each sock is used. Not trying to be exact, just in the ballpark.
