I have been looking at my options for lighting and I’ve considered getting a ocean revive for a frag tank that 24x24. Is that a good idea or should I look for different lights ?

If youre able to handle the repairs on your own the ocean revives are fine. They're actually better made than alot of black boxes so it may not be necessary. But service will be essentially non-existent with them. I also hate how they put the violet diodes on the white channel, forcing you to run them lower if you like to keep the whites low in the mix.

There has to be a way to rewire the diodes to so that the purple is connected with the blues.

Of course there is. But if you’ve never soldered or worked with electronics before, or in general just want your lights to do the right thing out of the box, rewiring your fixture may not be a pleasant process

you Have a good point I’m debating between that light or the illumagic which seems like a good light but I’ve never heard of it before until the other day. It seems to be a competitor with the hydra 26 but at a 66 dollar difference.

The safe bet would be getting the illumagic's, especially if you need to cover more area of your tank. You get more control and customization if you need more light aswell

OR are fine for the money, I’ve had one get completely soaked in SW as a pump shot water up and into it. I thought it was toast. Nope. Still running until this day.

For the money, it can’t be beat. Have you considered Reefbreeders Photon V2?

Okay so definitely should go with illumagic if I’m not in a budget. I’m trying to see how much money I should sink into my frag tank.

Since when is ocean revive out of business, plus what service do you get from eco tech and Ai after a year . You get water damage even though you known100% water never got in it . So for 750.00 less I would take the chance with an OR and spend the rest on coral

Have you ordered directly from them recently? Their website appears mostly down and has for a couple years now, they pulled all their sponsorship status, and according to many users no longer answer their phones or return emails. I know the owner was from overseas and it has been suspected he went back and basically dissolved everything. Though you can still find new old stock units from some vendors. Those will eventually run out.

Can’t speak for AI or Ecotech. I’ve never purchased anything from either company. I’ve played the lighting carousel game and have landed back at gas guzzlers because I simply like their ease of use and bulletproof results
