Ocean Surgeonfish (Caribbean)

Found 2 of them trapped in a tide pool. So we caught them by hand (no nets), and added them to a freind's 110g tank. These are ick magnets!!, I thought they were going to get sick, but after 3 weeks they are looking super healthy and no signs of ick or any other disease.

Here they are Ocean Surgeonfish (Acanthurus bahianus)

Nice catch! I have a friend that has a nice blue one he caught diving. He has had it for years.

The yellow ones that turn to blue are Atlantic Blue Tangs, a different species than the OP's.



Eitherway, a cool fish. We had a Doctorfish for a while. Atlantic tangs are very underappreciated

It does, but this one is from the Caribbean and it was free!!!!!!

You are correct, this is not an Atlantic Blue Tang, or a Doctorfish, its an Oceanic Surgeonfish/Tang. I guess people don't like them because they are not rare or "exotic".
