Hi I have a half hp Oceanic chiller that the control board went bad on! Can’t find replacement of course so I tried to use a Ranco controller on it but I found that it won’t bypass controller like it normally should?? Any one have experience with this? Appreciate it.

I repair chiller system for retail and commercial industrial. Can you find a schematic on the internet for that model. Are you handy with electrical like cutting and splicing wires using wire nuts etc. That's what you're going to have to do to bypass the controller and use the ranco. Does the ranco have a female and male electrical plug

Controller died on my last chiller (not an oceanic though) and it was pretty simple to bypass. I also used a Ranco. Got to make sure the Ranco can handle 1/2 HP ... I believe there are different versions. Ironically, my current chiller came standard with a Ranco so I have a spare LOL.

Yes i have used the ranco on another one. Its almost impossible to find info on Oceanic like Schematics. Any suggestions? Thanks

I'm certainly no expert on these things, but a chiller is a pretty simple piece of equipment. Maybe Oceanic made these, but more likely they just slapped their badge on it. I'd pull the cover off and see whether you can figure out how the controller is connected. In the case of my old unit, the controller was just triggering power on/off to the mechanicals.
