I know it is old and outdated. But it was free so if I can get the information I need I will use it...lol. I am looking for 1. The owner manual for this filter if anyone still has one. I have looked all over on line and cant find one. 2nd. There is a looks like air line fitting( shown in picture) in the Bio ball containment wall. Can someone explain what it is for? 3rd do i have the overflow pipe in the correct place? (Again shown in photo.)

That is indeed an airline. You can attach an air pump which will supercharge your nitrifying bacteria and further increase dissolved oxygen content. drain pump is in right place. Are you able to provide any mechanical prefiltration??

I have capped the lower end of the pipe, drilled a ton of holes in the pipe and slipped a course spong over it so the water flows through it first then rains down over the Bio balls, as it exits that chamber i was thinking of putting a large bag of carbon then in the 3 chambers on the left before the return pump i was planning on putting fine filter floss and polishing pads. Ideas?

That can work, but be sure to keep that sponge on the drain pipe clean as it will directly effect your displays ability to drain. Finer mechanical filtration down the line is fine.

I plan on removing it for a good cleaning weekly as i have a heavy hand and a tendency of over feeding....lol

Very cool. Does it have some type of pre-filter?

I have a course sponge on the bottom of the overflow pipe. The pipe is capped closed on the end then i drilled a bunch of holes in the pipe and slid the sponge over them. I plan to clean the sponge weekly.
Any detritus in wet/dry will increase NO3 & PO4. That's good for softies. Not SPS.

It is going to be a SOWLR display. In the chamber before the return pump i am planning on putting fine filter floss and polishing pads. The chamber after the Bio balls i was thinking a large bag of carbon.
