Hi,

So yesterday i noticed one of my ocelaris was bloated (big belly) and pretty letargic. It was fine the day prior that. No external symptom other than 'big belly'. It did not eat yesterday. but i fed blood worm the day before and it was eating fine.

Decided to leave it in the tank until today. When i got home i looked at it i could see:
- 2 sored area, one under lateral fin and one under the belly.
- Fish has difficulty to maintain balance, often end up upside down
- Rectal prolapse or constipation

I started a furan 2 treatment for what i think could be bacterial infection.

Any other suggestion ?

thanks

david

Is this a new clown or have you had him awhile? Those lesions could be brook or even uronema.

i have them for a while.
they did a std QT when i introduced them + i had an episode of 'death' in my tank where i lost a few fish for either fluke or Velvet... never really find out and they went through a cupramine treatment. I re-introduced them sometime this summer, would have to check exactly when, but i did not go fallow for 72d, could not catch all my fish.

these are totally new symptoms from what isaw when i lost some fish

i just read about uronemoa, i have 3 other ocelaris in 2 tank hooked on the same system, are they at risk aswell ??

ill keep observing, for now not sure it's brook, symptom looks more lyke bacterial or uronemoa..

thkx!

i don't know if my analysis is crazy, but the shape of the sored area are really circular... that's why i thought bacterial.. like the center point of infection and it grows outward. like a bacterial colony on a petri dish ... does it work like this on fish also ?? it might be just a silly thought..:confused:

I would probably add both Kanaplex + Metroplex to the medication (Furan-2) you are already dosing. Kanaplex will widen the spectrum of antibiotic coverage, and Metroplex will address the possibility of brook & uronema.
