If you search around in this forum, you will see many sharing their experiences with biting clowns. Some have even drew blood. So far my clowns don’t bite me so I have never had to try out methods to discourage that behaviour but I have seen people recommending gently flicking them each time they try to bite.

For whatever reason clowns love to bite, nothing dangerous, it may startle you at the beginning but soon after u should get used to it.

More startling than dangerous
I wear gloves in the tank now and laugh at them trying to bite

The dominant female often bites. Nothing to worry about. I miss the days when mine would bite me.... She passed away a couple years ago at age ~9.

Be glad you do not have a 4” clarkii female in one tank, 4” tomato in another and 3.5” maroon in another. If I didn’t wear gloves I would have chunks of flesh missing. Made that mistake a few times.

IF he bites, FIGHT. BACK.

When my clownfish bit me before, I fought back and frantically move/slap some current on to him. You will need to scaring him back and every time he comes close, repeat the same thing. After 3-4 times they will stop. My clownfish now coexist with my hands when I reach down into aquarium.

Man, I wished that worked for mine. That just makes them come at different angles or through nooks in the rocks lol. You are a lucky person.

Same for me... It's the female that chases my hand around and bites, even when I flick or scare away.

Whenever she bites the softer part on my hand between the fingers, it draws out blood. It feels like a minor scrape/cut, nothing deep or serious. So I try to wear gloves whenever possible now :)

The male, which was i traduced after the female bit me a couple times when he was new to the tank. As other have said more startling than anything. hand fed a couple times now they leave me alone.
