When we stated up an aquarium a little over a year ago, we were advised by the LFS to get a pair of ocellaris clownfish. Will they ever host an anemone or could we add other clownfish to the mix?

They should host an anemone. I don't think I would add any more clowns they can become territorial and start to fight leading to the death of a one of the clowns.

And Welcome to R2R !!!

Of course they will reside in anemone, they will never host one, silly I know but that is the way it is.

Have you tried an anemone type yet? If so what type?

Your best bet is to acquire the anemone host that the clown resides in naturally.

Adding a third wheel depends on the size of tank and temperament of the residing clowns.

First of all, welcome to R2R. If you already have a pair that's been together for a while, the 3rd one will typically become the "crowd".

No guarantee they will allow an anemone to serve as a host. Typically yes, but many stories to the contrary. Either way, I would not recommend adding another clown.

Welcome to R2R :)They will, bubble tips are the best to host in. I have a maroon and with in five minute she was hosting, she also feeds the Anemone. The clown has been in the tank for 7 months and the Anemone has been in the tank for two

We do have a long tentacle anenome. The clowns were a pair and were tiny when I bought them. I'd hate to disrupt them since they seem to get along well.

Ok so you are looking to have the clowns reside in the Long Tentacle Anemone?

Try feeding the anemone tiny pieces of mysis or other meaty seafoods. Do not feed the tank or fish just the anemone.
Believe it or not try taping an image of O. clowns residing in anemone to the side of the tank.

How long has the anemone been in the tank?

He's fairly new to the aquarium. About a week. It seems to have settled and looks good. I did tape a photo on the glass. We'll see how it goes. :)
