I have a pair of ocellaris clowns. The female is regular color and the male is black and white. I now have a good size haddoni carpet anemone. The ocellaris have yet to pay it any attention. My question is should I trade the ocellaris pair for clarkii pair? I've read the clarkii are easy to host with nem. What are the pros and cons of the two kinds?

Personally I like oscelaris better. They are mild mannered compared to clarkiis. I had a clarkii maybe 15 or so years ago it was small when I got it but grew fast. I had a Haddoni carpet anemone that he lived in, went straight for it when I added the nem. He fed it regularly and it grew really fast. The haddoni also ate a lot of my fish and a brittle star.

I want the carpet to host. I just assumed the clarkii would jump right in. I would be really happy for my ocellaris to host in it. Any ideas on getting them to love the nem?

I don't think it is a natural host for Oscelaris so it may be hit or miss. They have a much more potent sting than a lot of other nems. Mine would cause a horrible rash if I touched it. If the clown is going to move into the anemone it will do it when it is ready. I have a small oscelaris. I have 2 bubble tip anemones and it took about 6 weeks for the clown to accept one of the nems.

I probably should have gotten a bubble tip. I just think a big carpet on the sand is so pretty. But I'm having a hard time finding out more detailedinformation on carpets. I am still tryingto find out how much light intensity they need

They are truly beautiful anemones. They have some negatives though. The biggest being they are fish eaters. Most nems can eat fish but I have never has one other than the Haddoni that ate fish or anything else that got too close. I did find them easy to keep though.

I hope I find him easy to keep. I think he is still adjusting to the move to my tank. I just gotta figure out the lighting

I have the 2 clownfish. A yellow tang, a royal gramma, a mandarin, a sea cucumber, and few hermits and snails

I had a tomato clown that didn't host my carpet (he later ate em)

My clarkii's hosted him the same day I put em in the tank....I mean I think like mentioned earlier it can be hit or miss with any clown

May be hard to trade here. I looked for a long time to find one. He ate some of the ladies fish is why she wanted him gone.
