Octo 160 replacement pump

Hi-

Restarting a tank after a hiatus.

Have an old Octo extreme 160 (black) w/ sicce psk-2500 underneath.

Has the known startup issues.

What is a good replacement pump? psk-600 or psk-1000?

I heard you need a mod for it to fit right?

Would it help to add a gate valve too? to replace the wedge...

Just select the 160 output fitting

If you are choosing between the two Sicce pumps I would go with the PSK 1000 due to the skimmer being a wide neck model. You will need an adapter fitting depending on the style of your skimmer. https://www.coralvue.com/sicce-psk1000-skimmer-pump

just to clarify—-why the gph difference between the two?

198 gph for the aquatrance vs 370 gph for the sicce

guess that doesn't directly correlate to performance?

i bought the aquatrance as recommended—-the water column does not come all the way up the skimmer chamber (barely to where it starts to taper). Thats with it wide open. sitting in 9.5” water. i dodnt have to use all the parts that came w the adapter (assume theres extras?)

any suggestions?
