Just wanted to give a review on some racks I purchased a few weeks ago. I actually came upon these through another review on R2R so maybe this will help someone else find them too. And now that @cromag08 is an official R2R sponsor, even better.
First off, these are top notch. The slotted design is far superior to the drilled hole which really limit not only the type of plugs you can use but also limits how many frags you can fit. I ordered multiple 12x5 magnetic racks, 4 slots each. I find using ocean wonders plugs I can fit 48 frags per rack. Thats fantastic for the amount of space they take up and actually very close to similar space as eggcrate.
Aside from that the magnets are super strong. You could load these things with full colonies and they aren't going anywhere. I also love that the pods that he uses for the magnets are clear. One quick look and you know the magnet pods are keeping the magnets out of your water like they are supposed to.
Why go with acrylic racks?
These are not my first acrylic racks. I also have another set of acrylic racks, which I actually had to ream out the holes in those because they were too tight. That resulted in broken plugs and just a real pain to work with. But what I learned about acrylic racks, over time they just don't get the same algae growth that you're constantly fighting with eggcrate. It seems like it just attracts coralline algae and repels hair algae. Maybe not, but I've noticed since getting rid of the eggcrate racks, snails and crabs spend more time on the racks cleaning and doing their job. It's like they just don't like the eggcrate so the algae gets out of hand. Just my experience.
