Octopus 1000 HOB Protein Skimmer Help

I have a octopus 1000 Hob protein skimmer I have water and some green color waste I. My container.

1) should the waste be brown sludge kind of
2) if so how do o get it to be brown sludge.
Please help

Not necessarily, waste from the tank in the skimmer comes in all mostly ugly colors.
If it is a HOB your light might has a impact on the waste cup and will promote algae growth in your collection cup which explains the green color.

Yep, Diesel is right. You don't have to pull out brown stuff. One of my systems only pulls green, another one brown but not dark or thick.
You don't need brown. It's pulling something nasty outta your system. That skimmer is a good one. How big is your system and do you dose or treat your tank with anything?
