I'm looking for a basic decent skimmer at a reasonable price. The ASM G2 seemed to fit my needs but now Marine Solutions is not selling ASM skimmers anymore and suggesting the Octopus 150 needlewheel as a replacement. Does anybody have any experience with either of these skimmers? The price on the Octopus is certainly nice but am I getting what I pay for???? Any advice would be appreciated.

the 200 is a better skimmer. I have the g-2 also but its modded too the max, too me the 200 skims better also

Skimmer

We have started carrying the octopus skimmers at the LFS I part time at. We actually have one installed on the 200 gal show tank in the store. So far (about 3 months) We are very pleased with the performance. It really pulls the goo out. One thing to check for is to make sure the gasket on thhe coupling that houses the air intake does not block the air flow. We picked up a better air column once we cleared this obstruction. I recommend the octopus, ,needless to say!
