I've been researching into keeping octopus lately but the 1 problem I couldn't find to fix (besides using ice and fans which I don't want to do) is the temp. I live in Florida and it gets pretty fricken hot here and because of that if I were to own octopus, it would have a smaller lifespan since they thrive in cold waters. what equipment should I use to cool down my tank once I have it set up?

I was thinking of getting a Florida native species but, they get huge! and I would like a smaller species like a blue ring but like i sad they need cold waters.

They make aquarium chillers still. Not nearly as common now that we have more efficient lighting/pumps that generate less heat, but sounds like for you that us what is needed.

i know specifically that they make chillers for aquariums, but they are quite expensive. i havent done any research on them, so i dont know if they will cool to the temp needed for what you are seeking. i would bet that there is a way to make some sort of setup (DIY) to get what you need

Yeah you'd need a chiller. Back in Australia Hailea is a commonly recommended brand. Not sure what is the popular brand in the U.S.
