Octopus?

Just curious what everyone's stance on keeping octopus in aquariums is. My LFS refuses to order anything in that species because they feel its cruel. I'm on board with them about that. But I recently saw someone asking about keeping an octopus in an aquarium and I got curious. Another LFS near me has one in stock.. it was honestly sad seeing it try to escape from the little jar he had to be in because they didnt have a secure lid for the tank.

It's very rare to even find one for sale, much less anyone keeping them. Plus they don't live long anyway.

They are short lived and a pain to keep in the aquarium. Plus messy, very messy. Wait till they shed the sucker cups.

I love octopuses. They are very very neat to me but I don't feel that MOST home aquarists are suited to have one. I, at least, am definitely not suited for one. I just went to the Oregon Coast Beach last week and absolutely LOVED seeing all the octopuses they have!

Skip the Octopuse and go Cuttlefish.

My lfs had one a few months ago. All it did was hide under a rock all day.
