Hey all noticed a few of my cichlids have the dreaded bloat.

Ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 10ppm.. pH 8.2 phosphate 3.

So the water looks a little cloudy but it's albeit healthy as the parameters are good.

I've lost 7 fish in the last 10 days. 2 more into the fish cemetery today. What a cruel and horrible hobby this can be at times.

Ive been using metroplex and medicating the food for whole tank and in a hospital tank adding it to the water with kanaplex and here is where I'm losing them.

So I'm going change and try waterlife octozin.

My display tank is 972 litres/ 256 gallons and my sump is 120 litres/ 32 gallons.

The packaging says to remove sand and stone volume ( how?!) But doesn't mention my media in the sump? Anyone help?

I've got 15kg alfagrog, 2.5kg pumice, 1kg matrix, 1 kg eheim substrat , 1 kg ceramic rings and 6 biocenosis baskets roughly about 2kg each. I've got 40kg of rock and i put in about 79kg of sand.

Any help would be great.

Before anyone asks the kanaplex and metroplex expires tomorrow on its course.

Thanks

Im sorry for your loss i have no experience with octozin but heres a bump for you.

You just have to guess on the sand and rock. Square inches / 231 is gallons... so just do the best that you can. I don't know how to do it by weight, so I just say 3 inches of sand over 84x24 is 26 gallons and then I guess on the rock too.
