Odd Anemone...

I was responding to that persons picture. Your nem look like a very bleached/unhealthy bubble tip
Ok so how long can it live like that? I have had it for months and it hasn't changed behavior at all. It pretty much will stay closed all day and open all night. What can be done?

Age of tank ? Parameters ? Lighting ? How long have you had it ?

Like everyone else has said looks like a bleached bubble tip. BTAs like nitrates in the water as it is a food source for them. I recommend a minimum of 10.
I directly put mysis over the area where the nem is located. When the clowns swim around in it the little guy opens up

What about lighting ? Did the nem always look like that ?

I have had kessil 360x since the nem was added. It's always just been closed up until lights start going down then it perks up all night long in the dark.
How did the anemone look when you originally got it

Same...it would inflate to move out of the light then just shrivel until lights out. It doesn't like the color. I have a mixed reef so keeping everything happy is always fun. When the light drops in intensity and color it puffs up...but it has very short tentacles...I have a huge RBTA that was small and got huge

Can you move it to a lower light area? I’ve heard that bleached anemones don’t like much light, and that would explain why it only opens at night?

I moved it and it always ends up back in the same corner of the tank but it's the lowest light point of the tank.

I would move the bubble tip to that tank to let it recover

Well that tank might be an option.... I adjusted the color not intensity and today it's open an bit and you can see the orange on its tips. It's not completely unhappy...so maybe it just doesn't like the color.
