My singapore angel is acting strangely...he eats well, looks fine in a 65 fowlr...tank mates do not bother him...but...he started going to the top of the rock pile and wiggling, like tail and body...not rubbing, just wiggling...guessing this may be some sort of spawning behavior...since he is the only one of his kind in the tank...not gonna get him/her too far...the fish is about 3 1/2 " long...any ideas?...thanks...

Did he do this wiggle in front of the power head? In other words, was he up there to intentionally go against the flow?

possibly...I have a double powerhead and one side seems to be pointing in that direction...also he seems to be staying behind the rockwork quite a bit...and a bit of flashing on some clam shells...as I said , nothing on him to see...

Could be in his gills and he is trying to use flow to blow them off.

It's hard to say. Does he seem pale or have a shimmer off his body? Does he still eat well? Anything odd that you noticed?

I will look him over good...when he flashes on a shell, it is around the gills...better get my ht ready, huh?
when I turned the white light off, he appeared for a few seconds...not sure if his right gill is opened...he than went back to the rock pile...

Does he appear to be sensitive to light? Meaning does he shy away from brightness? Have you ever done a FW dip on him and if so did you see anything come off?

Could be velvet, fluke, or others. Does he still eat?

Out for a while with white light on...gills seem to be opening...flashing again and again right on his mouth...should we consult with Humble or Merideth?

Probably at best to post a video so ppl can see.

missed your last 2 posts...never dipped him...does eat...was staying in back out of the light...than came out...

Sounds like it's either fluke or velvet. Suggest to do a FW dip so confirm if it's fluke.

If here is easy to catch, I would give him a 5-10 min fresh water dip. If he is hard to catch I may try Prazipro.

Prazipro in the DT...?...basically fish, shrimp and hermits and a small urchin...he will be hell to catch...no visible signs of velvet...had it on my kole in qt...used copper and it cleared right up, but he was full of it...

Have prazipro...is it safe in DT...fowlr...as I asked above...?...so far no signs like any of the velvet pics...and doesn't look like what my kole had...

I'm guessing flukes, don't stress him trying to catch him. I use Prazi in ponds and all my saltwater tanks. I am not a chemist but have never experienced any negative effects using Prazi in DT tanks, other then the skimmer going crazy. You should do what your comfortable doing, if the Prazi concerns you don't use it. I have also found Singapore angels a little difficult to keep, many ship from Philippines and Bali and are usually pinched when they come in. Well good luck I hope he makes it
