odd behavior.

hello all! i have a question. has anyone seen or had a maroon clown and a lawnmower blenny act like this? they literally lay on eachother motionless and chill out like homies. ive never whitnessed it before. is it common?

haha! ok, i was just wondering if i decided to pair another maroon with this one, that it may reject it because of this goofy relationship. i have definately got some crazy fish here, but its fun to see them play around

Maroon clowns can be terrors. Better that he is friendly than attacking the blenny

Our little clown and Blenny were snuggled up together this morning. They act like best buddies. The clown seems to have taught the Blenny how to eat frozen.

well today hes been on his side at the bottom of the tank breathing heavy i think. not fast just seems heavy. it eats and moves when i approach the tank but not much. i dont think it will make it but ive seen him do it before but never a whole day. im worried and dont know what to do all params are good except nitrates are at 40 ppm but its just a FOWLR tank. so ya im not sure what to do

Do you have a separate tank and methylene blue? Mb helps the oxygen intake for fish suffering ammonia/nirite/nitrate poisoning....(if humblefish hasnt told you that already)

i have neither. but i can get the medicatiin, i cannot however get a hospital tank. no funds available at this time. i was under the impression 40 ppm nitrates wouldnt effect my fish. was i wrong in this?

40ppm nitrates shouldn't be an issue for fish.

Have you treated any of the fish for anything? Added anything to the tank? Your description has me thinking that you may have some flukes going on in there, which would be helped immensely (and confirmed) by a freshwater dip, and can be treated with Praziquantel.

i performed the dip, and it was hard to tell bit i think it was flukes as you described. hiw do i go about riding my tank of this parasite? thank you again

also i have only used seachem reef fusion to raise my my calcium. its liw at 300. and original help to cycle with stability

You'll want to use Prazi-Pro to finish off the flukes, if that's what it is. (Did you spot any of those sesame-seed things floating in the water after the dip? Those would be dead flukes.)

It doesn't kill unhatched eggs, so dose again in a week or so.
